The Salford Underground

The huge underground chambers lying below Deansgate once linked Manchester City and Salford via a canal, which in turn, would later be used forĀ  air raid shelters during WW2.

Many of the chambers now lie empty, blocked off staircases forgotten, and built over. The end chambers today are now flooded, but aren’t completely inaccessible, for, a spot of underground swimming can always be sought after.
