Here’s a testament to a man by the name of Jim Smith, whom many of my friends and acquaintances knew as Solomon. Explorer, Offshore rigger and all-around adventurer, never short of being somewhere amazingly unique and exotic. I’d be lying if I didn’t envy his lifestyle, depicted by his facebook photos – ranging from all around the world; travels, climbs and missions alore. His career path was and is something I greatly desire. I’d been emailing him in the passed month about career opportunities in the area he was involved in, but unfortunately the replies stopped. My greatest condolences to his family & friends.

STD Drain is, to say the least, a complete bastard to enter. Not only located in most inconvenient overgrown forestry, but the main pipe from the outfall is a stoopy, seemingly never-ending corrugated pipe. The few manhole chambers along this give a small opportunity to stretch ones back, although, one shaft is in complete disrepair. Only after the stoop, does the drain start to become more interesting.

Its pretty huge, and the hatch at the top looks like it’s locked, but really it isn’t, and like, all you have to do is unclip a little hook on the hatch. Oh sorry, I forgot to tell you how to even find the hatch. Follow some students into the building, make sure you really tailgate them, because there are two locked doors. Take the lift to the top floor, head for the fire escape – and there you have it. Disco

For all I knew she was talking about pesto, the Italian woman sent her brunette daughter to converse with me instead, through the window of her kitchen. She spoke a little broken English, and asked me what I was doing on her house. Technically I wasn’t really on her house, I was clearly stood on some feeble aluminium sheets, some 200 feet above Milan on scaffolding. I answered her questions, occasionally staring down mindlessly at my dusty kicks, each small step sending chunks of concrete below, sharply clanging to the bottom.
